Mike (father) and Matthew (son) Sullivan are the Executive Directors/Owners of the Sylvan Learning Centers of Abilene/Lubbock/Fort Worth. Mike purchased the Abilene center in 2000. He then purchased the Lubbock center in 2002 and the Fort Worth center in 2014. Matthew grew up attending Sylvan as a student from 6th grade all the way through high school graduation. Matthew joined the company and began working with his father in 2011. Matthew and Mike live in Abilene but travel weekly/semi-weekly to the Lubbock and Fort Worth locations.

Awards & Recognition

Mike and Matthew Sullivan are among the most recognized franchisees in the Sylvan Learning Center community. They are the only franchisees in the system who have multiple centers operating in the top 10 in the country in terms of revenue production (Lubbock- 1st, Abilene- 3rd and Fort Worth- 8th, are ranked in the top 10 out of 621 centers). The Sullivan’s centers were also rated highest in terms of customer satisfaction in the United States. Mike has been invited to serve on many Sylvan advisory committees over the years and Matthew and Mike have spoke at Sylvan National Conference on multiple occasions. Mike and Matthew also had one of their directors from the Fort Worth location named Director of the Year for the Sylvan corporation in 2016.

Sylvan Learning Center is one of the primary financial underwriters for both Pregnancy Resources of Abilene and Young Life of Abilene. The Sylvan owners serve on multiple boards within the community including Pregnancy Resources of Abilene, Serenity House of Abilene, and the United Way of Abilene.
